Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? We have answers.

To get a motorcycle endorsement in Colorado, you must either pass the Colorado DMV motorcycle skills test or complete a state-approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course.
By successfully completing an MSF course through a Colorado-approved provider like Shift Happens Motorcycle Rider Training, you earn a motorcycle endorsement waiver that you take to the DMV to add the “M” endorsement to your license.
-
If you are a new rider or have no riding experience, the two-day beginner motorcycle endorsement course is the right choice.
If you are an experienced rider, the one-day endorsement course may be appropriate.
If you’re unsure which course fits your experience level, we’re happy to help you choose.
-
Yes. Experienced riders may qualify for the one-day motorcycle endorsement course.
This course is designed for riders who already know how to ride and are comfortable using the clutch, throttle, brakes, and shifting. Successful completion earns the same Colorado DMV motorcycle endorsement waiver as the two-day course.
-
Not everyone passes on the first attempt — and that’s okay. Learning to ride is a process, and success looks different for every rider.
If a student does not successfully complete all required evaluations, they will not receive the motorcycle endorsement waiver that day. However, at Shift Happens, we are committed to helping riders succeed.
Depending on the situation, options may include:
Additional one-on-one coaching
A same-day retest when appropriate
Attending another class to continue building skills
As long as a rider is willing to keep learning and doesn’t give up on themselves, we won’t give up on them. Our goal is not just to pass a test — it’s to help riders become confident, capable, and safe on a motorcycle.
